Arrive in Newquay bright and early. If you’re coming from further afield (London) we recommend getting yourself accommodation in or near Newquay on the Friday night.

9am – your activity weekend in Cornwall begins with your first surfing session. With some of the best waves in the UK, Newquay is the perfect place to start or continue your surfing journey. Your instructors will teach you the basics and have you surfing on your front, knees or feet in no time!

3pm – this afternoon you’ll be coasteering. This includes scrambling along a rocky coastline full of pools to swim in, cliffs to climb and places to jump.

You’ll now have time to pick up food/drink supplies in a Sainsburies across the road from where the transport is parked. When you get back to camp you’ll have time to relax and if you want get involved in some camp activities including bushcraft and axe throwing.

Day 2 (Sunday)Surfing 2.0 then the end of your escape

Wake up in the quiet of your woodland camp. Grab breakfast, a hot cup of coffee/tea and get ready to jump in again…

9:30am – Get ready for your second surfing sessions. No that you should have the hang of it todays session will be all about mastering the perfect pop up technique and hopefully catching some waves.

End your activity weekend by treating yourself to lunch in a seaside cafe/restaurant and reflect on what was a memorable, magical and epic escape.

What shall I pack?

Shoes for camp, flip flops/sandals and lace up trainers (to wear when coasteering)
Waterproof jacket
Warm clothes
Cool clothes (shorts?!)
Swimming stuff & towel (for two days of wet activities)
Change of clothes
Torch
Water bottle (1 litre)
Matches/lighter if you’d like to make a fire
Sunscream (waterproof is best)
Portable phone charger (non-essential but useful)

FOOD: a packed lunch for Day 1 (Saturday), non perishable snacks (there are no fridges). You can buy food to cook on Saturday evening at a Sainsburies across the road from the Coasteering car park on the Saturday afternoon.

What about the weather?

Unfortunately with the British climate we sometimes have rain during our time in the woodlands. In anticipation we have large 50ft parachutes and large tarps for coverage, along with natural shelter from the woodland you’ll be able to keep warm and dry very easily.

Unless we see stormy weather forecast ahead the session will still go ahead in wet weather.

Can I wear glasses/contacts during my surf and coasteering sessions?

If you feel that you will struggle to see without your glasses then yes please do wear them. We suggest securing them to yourself with a piece of string so as not to lose them. Daily throw away contact lenses are the best option.
